Position Title: Waking Night Residential Childcare Worker

Location: Willow Vue Children's Home, 75 Crossley Street, Gorton, Manchester M18 8BD (fixed base)

Salary Range: Grade 4 £22,369 to £24,054 (Bar at £23,620) per annum plus night rate

Working Hours: 140 hours over a 28 day / 4 week rota; 10 hour shifts including weekends and Bank Holidays

Contract Type: Permanent

Qualification: Diploma Level 3 in working with Children and Young People in Residential Care or its equivalent; or be willing to undertake qualification within 6 months of appointment

Your Role

This is a role for a Full time Night Residential Child Care Worker to work within a 6 bedded residential children's home. We are looking for people who believe they have the qualities and skills needed to support our children and maintain stability. You will need to be emotionally and physically fit to work with young people age 11 - 17 who are emotionally challenging and have complex needs. You will need to be able to establish and maintain relationships with the young people to challenge their existing patterns of behaviour. You will create a culture and ethos within the home in which the needs of the young people are paramount, and they are encouraged to develop, mature and grow. In addition, you will work proactively with appropriate stakeholders to assess the individual’s needs and ensure positive outcomes.

About You

  • You must have 12 months experience of working with children, young people, and families.
  • Have resilience, commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Take personal responsibility for making things work well.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the views of others and communicates in a realistic and practical manner using appropriate language and medium, listens attentively to views and issues of others and responds to issues arising.
  • Ability to analyse situations, diagnose problems, identify the key issues, establish and evaluate alternative courses of action and produce a logical, practical and acceptable solution.
  • Able and confident to resolve moderately complicated queries in their area of knowledge using logical thinking to explain reasoning behind decisions or actions taken.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize multiple tasks in the most effective way, and allocate time and energy according to task complexity and priority.
  • Ability to use and accurately maintain effective administration systems in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Have ICT skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to problems. Has ability to develop new approaches to finding solutions outside of existing parameters.

If you do not already have the Diploma Level 3 in working with Children and Young People in Residential Care or its equivalent; you will be required to work towards within 6 months of appointment.

The team works proactively in maintaining a high level of care for the young people. The team are consistent in their approach whilst working together in order to provide the best possible care to the young people they work with. Willow Vue have high aspirations for the young people who live in the home.
