About the role:  A key player working within the Governance Team, to provide excellent corporate governance at a dynamic high performing organisation driven by its social purpose. Part of the Legal & Assurance team of 8 professionals (at full complement) covering legal, governance & compliance and risk assurance within the Strategy and Business Services directorate.  We work collaboratively with all areas of the business to advise and direct and to ensure that we retain and build upon our strong governance and regulatory reputation.

Reporting to the Head of Governance and Compliance, you will work within our established and talented team of four (including this role), consisting of a Governance Officer and Data Protection Manager. In addition, you will build and foster professional relationships with executive and non-executive senior management, and other stakeholders. Therefore, a proactive and positive approach to problem solving, and discretion/ maintaining confidentiality are key to this post.  The role includes the smoothly running of committee and board activities and advising on and completing legal and regulatory requirements and procedures. You would also have the opportunity to lead on discrete governance projects.

About you

This would ideally suit a Governance professional with working knowledge and experience within a highly regulated environment, such as the Housing sector or possibly within the NHS or Utilities industry. You do not specifically need to have current experience of working in social housing to apply. You could be part qualified with the Chartered Governance Institute (previously ICSA).

You will need to demonstrate good experience of organising and running Board/ Committee processes and minuting experience. Excellent organisational and communication skills are important in this role. You will be curious and interested in different aspects of the business and its operations, and passionate about delivering high quality governance support.
