Role Snapshot… It is a very exciting and challenging time to come and join our Housing and Benefits team. The Rough Sleeper service across both Councils has been developed and expanded over the past year to address the needs of rough sleepers across both areas and work collaboratively with partners within Norfolk more widely. This has become even more pressing because of the current Covid-19 pandemic and the urgent need to better protect vulnerable people

What you’ll be doing…

  • Complete assessments for each customers support needs and risk to allocate a suitable placement within the rough sleeper service.
  • Complete the sign up process for customers accessing the rough sleeper service, ensuring that customers understand their license agreements and ensuring license agreements are conducted appropriately.
  • Update systems to manage placements and rent accounts.
  • Overall day to day support of those in the Housing First rough sleeper accommodation. To include arranging/reporting property repairs and maintenance, pre and post tenancy inspection and compliance with health and safety.
  • Work proactively with agencies to mitigate and reduce risk, build positive working relationships with both customer and external agencies to source and signpost to other appropriate support.
  • Ensure residents/customers have a mutually agreed support plan and attend support planning meetings both internal and external as appropriate..
  • Foster and develop proactive working with supported accommodation providers and social housing landlords to identify customers move on options from Housing First accommodation.
  • Manage a caseload, maintain manual and electronic customer records and ensure there is a comprehensive record of all customer contacts and outcomes including assessments and mitigation of the risk of potentially high risk and challenging customers.

You must have…

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent (including Maths and English) or the ability to demonstrate ability at this level.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • A proven understanding of housing management, managing rent accounts, tenancy administration, and completing risk assessments and support plans.
  • Significant experience of working with clients who need a high level of support and who have complex needs and experience of building relationships based on collaboration and trust with accommodation and other support providers.
  • Experience of working with appropriate partners to identify appropriate solutions for clients with thorough knowledge of local services landscape, including Mental Health, Health, Welfare and Benefits etc.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to be self-motivated.
