The Vacancy
Are you a senior rent and service charge professional? In this new role within our finance directorate of around 60 people in total, where you can really make your mark.
Reporting to the Assistant Director – Financial Operations, you will lead a Rent and Service Charge the team, providing leadership and acting as a trusted adviser and subject matter expert. You will oversee and involve yourself in the day-to-day operations; both getting into the detail to understand our customer data and contributing to the strategic direction of the function. You will thrive under pressure and your calm demeanour and project management skills will come into their own when leading your team to deliver accurate and timely communications to customers and the wider business. You will work collaboratively, ensuring key contacts around the business are kept updated on progress of project work and any issues are worked through collectively. You will be used to delivering a strong control environment, delivered against the regulations around rent and service charges. You will keep up to date and share legislative changes with the wider team and business and ensure our customers are communicated with in a timely and professional manner.
We have a major business transformation project underway in which you will deploy your project management skills, sharing your insight, expertise and best practice. You will oversee the implementation of our new rent and service charge system whilst ensuring our accuracy of information, utilising and contributing to Power BI and data analytics. You will provide a pro-active and expert advisory service, in relation to rents and service charges, to both service owners and budget holders that adds value and has a positive impact upon the strategic outcomes of the business.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in Rent and Service Charges; whether in a senior role in a smaller organisation or a team leader or manager in a larger Housing Association or Managing Agent.
We’re looking for an exceptional candidate to who has the following:
- Financial qualification OR actively studying for full qualification.
- Proven successful rent and service charge management at senior/managerial level.
- Extensive and up to date knowledge of rent legislation
- Strong leasehold knowledge and its application within social housing
- Effective project management skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills; able to challenge constructively, solution focussed.
- Highly numerate, accurate and with a strong attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills enabling effective work with bespoke systems.
- Good communication skills verbal and written and able to constructively challenge stakeholders.
- Business transformation experience
