Age UK Gloucestershire’s aim is to make our county the best place in the UK in which to grow older

The best place in which to grow older has high quality and up to date online content that is easily available and relevant to people as they age.  It also has safe places online where older people can connect and interact with others.

This exciting role reflects Age UK Gloucestershire’s ambition to strengthen our on-line profile and to make better use of available technology to connect older people to each other, their communities and to our organisation.

We’ve made a great start.  We have an established look and feel for our digital communications. During the first Covid19 lockdown we established our Online Springboard Group:  a dedicated online social space (using Facebook) as a place to move some of our community group activity to.  We now have over 300 registered members who share information and ideas in the group.  We know that platform can reach far more older people and continue to provide them with information, ideas and interactions – but we need someone with the passion and skills to make this happen.

Digital communications elsewhere in the charity are present, if not always correct.  We now need someone who brings communications and technical know-how to help extend our reach and make our online engagement with older people, local stakeholders and our volunteers more co-ordinated and exciting.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Can shape brilliant, accessible on-line communications to engage, inform and entertain our key audiences
  • Has experience and confidence using a range of social media channels, website, email newsletters to communicate consistently with internal and external audiences
  • Can develop and support our digital fundraising

This is a key role, with the potential to influence and shape our digital communications plans and strategy.
