Location: Flexible across Bereavement Services: Mainly between Blackley Cemetery, Victoria Ave, Manchester M9 8JP and Southern Cemetery, Barlow Moor Road, Manchester M21 7GL - Fixed Based
Salary Range: Grade 5 £24,948 to £27,852 (Bar at £26,845) per annum 
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Your Role

Bereavement Services deliver in the region of 3,000 burial and cremation services each year in the Councils five cemeteries and one crematorium. Bereavement Services is proud to hold 4 Green Flag Awards across the estate and this is an exciting opportunity to join the Customer Care Team. We currently have 6 full time Customer Care Officers who work flexibly across the estate, and we are now recruiting for a further full time post.

The Customer Care Officer provides the administrative and customer service function for the service and the post holder will provide a sensitive, professional and tactful service to a range of customers which will include funeral directors and bereaved families, and should be able to communicate with sympathy and sensitivity.

About You

The successful candidate will have a positive "can do" attitude and be willing to work flexibly across the Bereavement Services estate. The main office sites are based at Southern Cemetery in Chorlton and Blackley Cemetery in Blackley. No previous experience is required. Relevant training will be provided and further opportunities for professional development are available within Bereavement Services.

About Us

The Bereavement Services manages five cemeteries and one crematorium including Blackley, Southern, Gorton, Phillips Park and Manchester General cemeteries along with Blackley Crematorium.

Each year approximately 2,800 funeral services take place comprising of 1,600 burials and 1,200 cremations. In addition to this a number of smaller services take place in relation to the strewing of cremated remains and the installation of memorial tributes and features. It is estimated that cemeteries attract in the region of 350,000 visitors each year.

The four operational sites are managed by the Infrastructure team and the Customer Care team.

In addition to the above teams, Bereavement Services are supported by the Cemeteries Friends Groups, who are instrumental in the work required to gain Green Flag status, as well as delivering projects that improve the various sites.
