The Vacancy

We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Support Officer to join our friendly team! This is a full time role on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be providing practical support to our most vulnerable customers, who have complex needs such as hoarding disorders, where an empathetic, customer-focused and sensitive approach is therefore needed. The candidate will be expected to manage individual cases to help them to sustain their tenancy, ensure their safety and improve their wellbeing by working closely with partners and external agencies to ensure our customers are supported in the most appropriate way. You will need to work with tact and in a non-judgemental and positive manner, be able to keep accurate and confidential records and be confident working on your own.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualities:

Essential:

  • Experience of working with vulnerable people in a customer-facing role
  • Highly customer focused and listens to customers to identify their needs and enlists the support of experts or other services where required
  • Has a flexible and open approach to problems
  • Can handle conflict, difficult conversations and negotiations professionally and persuasively with customers either face-to-face, by phone or online, including those who may be in difficult and/or emotionally charged situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to details
  • Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office programmes, including Excel

You will need to hold a UK driving licence with access to a suitable vehicle with business use insurance cover.

You will need to maintain a satisfactory DBS check.
